"Taiwan," a young Chinese nation called over the phone, "are you busy?" It was around 9:00 A.M. at Hong Kong's house. The island nation had woken up earlier than normal in order to go through with his idea.
"Huh? Sorry, I've been running low on sleep lately," the Taiwanese yawned. "Is there something you want to do?" she asked, her voice as if she were in a dream.
"Nothing really. Just wanted to see how you're doing."
"I'm fine," the girl laughed. "Are you doing okay?"
Hong Kong only made a small sound of response. "I'm fine," after a short pause he added, "I guess I'll, like, go now. You should get some rest," the boy said, now absent-mindedly picking at his sleeves.
"Oh," Mei said disappointed. "Bye then!"
As they hung up, both had the same thought, "I guess my plans are ruined."

A few hours after the phone call, Hong Kong went about his normal day. When he finished checking in with the officials to make sure everything was okay, he decided to take a detour over to China's house.
"Neihou, Gramps," he greeted as he looked at the older nation's Hello Kitty dolls.
"How many times do I need to tell you to stop calling me that-aru!?" China said as he put away his panda, which he had once again been dressing up. "Honestly, you should be more respectful towards me-aru."
"But that's, like, no fun," he replied. "And you should totally start decorating your house, Gramps."
"Stop calling me that-aru!" Once Hong Kong's statement finally registered, the nation was in a state of confusion. "Decorate for what-aru?"
"For, like, Valentine's Day." China pouted at the mention of the foreign holiday.
"Why should I? Did England teach you this-aru? Do you like disobeying me?"
"Yeah," Hong Kong answered bluntly. China only stared blankly at his straightforwardness.
"Never mind. What are you doing here-aru? You're usually with Taiwan or Macau."
"I'm gonna take one your dolls, okay?" Hong Kong stated, completely ignoring China. "You have way too many anyway."
The one he had chosen was one of China's favorites. The small plush was wearing clothes similar to China's traditional female outfits. The outfit was emerald green with a complimenting yellow lining. It carried a small red pillow with the character for luck printed on it. Flowers decorated its face, with two just below the right and one below its left.
"Like, don't worry. I'll bring this back…maybe," waved Hong Kong as he began heading back to his house.
"Don't just take my things and leave-aru!" cried China as he chased Hong Kong down the street. "You can borrow it, but you must bring it back within a month!"
"Got it."

Once Hong Kong arrived back at his house, the doll tucked within his sleeved, he saw Taiwan sitting on his porch looking a bit worried.
"I didn't know you were coming." Taiwan shaded her eyes and looked up to see him standing in front of her. "Thought you were going to be sleeping."
"I-I wanted to ask you something," she stammered while gazing at her feet, her voice barely audible.
"Come in first. You were probably waiting out here for a while."
"N-no!" replied Taiwan as she made back and forth motions with her hands. "T-that's okay. I just wanted to know if you wanted to have lunch with me."
"Sure. There's a place I wanna show you anyways." Taiwan followed him down the street until they found somewhere to enjoy lunch. "Hope you don't mind if we eat here, it's just somewhere I like to go. Your first time here, right?"
"Yeah. Luk Yu? Isn't that one of your teahouses?" Hong Kong nodded and brought her inside. Taiwan took note of how the inside combined and Asian and Western feel to it. It wasn't overly fancy like some of the other restaurants, but had a design that complimented itself alone.  The smell of the food also wafted through the room, all blending nicely together giving a nice, welcoming, atmosphere.
While being caught up in the simple elegance of the place, Taiwan didn't notice that the food had already arrived. "Like, are you okay? You look distracted."
"Ah, s-sorry," she apologized.
"Should we eat then?" questioned the other. "It might be a little hot, though."
"O-okay!"
Throughout it all, Taiwan ate nervously but enjoyed the time with Hong Kong. He, of course, was mostly silent throughout the meal, but occasionally caught her staring at him. Each time she quickly went back to her food.
"It's good, I like it," complimented Taiwan as she finished drinking the tea, her voice soft and quiet. A slight, unnoticeable blush appeared on her face as he thanked her.
Not long after, it was time for them to leave.
"I should go back home. Thanks for lunch!" They both waved, and just before she was about to leave, Taiwan heard Hong Kong say something softly under his breath.
"I guess I'm alone again."

At the lower terrace in The Peak, people came and left to look at the spectacular view. Hong Kong leaned against the railing as he watched the people smiling and laughing together.
"It must be nice to share the view with someone," the Cantonese country turned his head to see Taiwan next to him. She smiled while gazing at the view of Victoria Harbour.
"I thought you went home, though," questioned Hong Kong. "How long have you been here?"
"Not too long, but I didn't want you to be alone today," she explained while pulling out a small box. "Here, it's a present for you!"
Hong Kong stared uncertainly at the box. "What's it for?"
A blush formed on Taiwan's cheeks once again, but she seemed happier than before. "Just for today. B-but, don't open it just yet!"
"Dōjeh, Taiwan," he replied, his voice now a bit softer. "Here, I thought you might like it." Hong Kong's voice was almost silent as he spoke.
In his hands was the Hello Kitty doll he had 'borrowed' from China. "Xiè xiè, Hong Kong. I-it's really cute~"
"I'm not used to this kind of stuff…so I might not be the best person," the other confessed, the sound of his voice somewhat distant.
Taiwan leaned in a bit closer and handed him to box from before. "Open it now," she said a bit shyly. Following what she said, Hong Kong lifted the top off the box. Inside was a small panda toy decorated with a red bow along its neck and a heart in its hand.
"Sorry if it's a bit girly, but I thought it'd look cute with you," Taiwan apologized a bit rapidly, her cheeks now noticeably blushed. "I'll understand if you don't like it…"
"It's pretty…thanks," he assured as he quickly turned around to enjoy the night view across the harbor. "The view, it looks nicer today. Do you like it?"
It was truly magnificent to Taiwan. The dark blue of the water reflected the lights of the bordering city perfectly. The lights itself balanced each other out, and made it something you could look at forever.
While being caught in the beauty of it all, Taiwan didn't notice Hong Kong slowly leaning towards her. Once she felt the small peck, she immediately turned pink in surprise.
"Sorry…that was probably uncalled for…" he said, embarrassed.
"No, I was just really surprised… but, it was nice." She lowered her voice, but there was still a hint of nervousness in her words.
Hong Kong only stared as she leaned in closer, a bit awkwardly, with him following suit, both of their hands clasping together.  When their lips brushed against each other, Taiwan let out a short gasp of disbelief.
A sweet, gentle kiss was what they remembered best, hands still together.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Hong Kong!"
"Happy Valentine's Day, Taiwan," a short smile appeared on his face, putting a finger over it. "And don't tell Gramps about the doll."
